High-Quality Vinyl Siding
For the past ten years, Steel-Kits has exclusively supplied steel siding as a superior alternative to vinyl coverings. Now, we have found a vinyl product that we can wholeheartedly recommend. Polar Wall Plus insulated siding represents a breakthrough in wall cladding. Manufactured by the Norandex-Reynolds division of Owens Corning, Polar Wall Plus has earned the Good Houskeeping Seal of Approval®, EnergyStar® certification, and several other citations and awards. Better yet, it is covered by one of the strongest warranties in the industry. Perhaps best of all, Polar Wall Plus simply looks fantastic.
Outstanding Performance
The key to Polar Wall's success is the 1¼" thick polystyrene insulating board that is laminated to the vinyl panels. Because this backing conforms completely to the profile of the panels, it prevents wind from getting between the siding and the wall.
Not only does this design eliminate the rattling that is associated with vinyl siding, but it gives Polar Wall the rigidity that regular vinyl lacks. Polar Wall boasts almost triple the impact resistance of regular vinyl siding, and it has a wind rating of 210 mph (per VSI Guidelines). The polystyrene is treated with an organic, bio-degradeable chemical that acts as both a flame retardant and a termite shield (not that you'll have to worry about termites in your Steel-Kits steel home). Finally, this insulating backing will add as much 3.53 to the R-value of your wall.
Ready to Install
Steel-Kits' siding packages come complete with fasteners, starter strips, and all necessary trim. Unlike our steel siding, Polar Wall Plus insulated vinyl siding must be attached to an exterior wall sheathing like plywood, OSB board, or Georgia Pacific's fireproof Densglass (recommended) to meet code. As you know by now, Steel-Kits's steel framing is engineered to provide sufficient shear strength to the walls without sheathing; however, the IBC/IRC code requires that any vinyl wall covering be installed over a sheathing board.
